"Rowland Barker of Wolverton, Shropshire, was NOT the father of James Barker of Harwich, Essex, who died during his passage to America aboard the "Mary and John" in 1634... As can be seen by the wills of Raymond Kinge and James Barker, the James who died in 1634 was the son of James Barker and his wife Christian Kinge."[131]
"James is said to have embarked for New England in 1633/4 with his son James, and to have died on the voyage. However, all available evidence points to his having died in late 1625 or January 1625/6. It may well be true that he died at sea, however, for no record of his burial was found in the Southwold parish registers. The baptismal record of his son Joseph in August 1625 does not refer to James as deceased. On 7 February 1625[/6], "Administration of the good of James Barker late whilst he lived of Southolde deceased [was] granted to Elizabeth his relict. Sword. 18d. 6d."""[145]

From Abbie Shelton:
The children listed from will probated 2 jun 1812 which states that
1/2 of all real estate to Martha Barker as long as she is his widow &
1/2 of ???
Mentions daughter Sally Sanders & Lucinda Rice, gdau.
Sally Sanders states that Lucinda is her infant on a separate paper w/ the
probate.[113]
"Barker, Silas, Lanesborough. Corporal, Capt. Daniel Brown's co.; marched to Meloomscuyck Aug. 14, 1777, on an alarm; service, 6 days; also, Capt. Brown's co., commanded by Lieut. William White, Col. Miles Powell's (Berkshire Co.) regt.; enlisted July 23, 1779; discharged Sept. 1, 1779; service, 1 mo. 10 days, at New Haven, Conn."[84]
William McConnell, in "History of McConnells" page 10, states "Martha married Silas Barker son of Judge Ezra Barker one of the council of the state of Mass. under John Hancock Gov." However, the Elizabeth Frye Barker's "Barker Genealogy" shows many Silas's but none that are the son of an Ezra, and none that are the son of a judge save Silas the son of James and Anne (Peckham) Barker. However, it does state that James Barker was succeeded as judge by his son Ezra, Silas's brother. So apparently William McConnell confused the two when writing many years later.[12]
