Jacob moved his family from PA to Seneca Co., OH in the early 1830s. At the same time he received his land in Scipio Twp., Seneca Co., OH, Sec. 5 (19 Oct 1833), Philip Beigh received an adjoining parcel of land. The 1830 census calls into question the parentage of Mary, John, and Lydia, since those three are related in location, but do not appear with Jacob in the 1830 census. John Beigh's obituary however says he was born in 1822 near Mifflin, Juniata Co. (created from Mifflin Co. in 1831), Pennsylvania, which does fit with Greenwood Twp.

Also, father Jacob and his probable brothers George and Philip are of Scipio Twp., Seneca Co., Ohio (and later of Clay Twp, Kosciusko Co., Indiana), and Mary's daughter Matilda Richner was born in Scipio Twp. and sponsors at her baptism were "Benjamin Bieg and his wife".^[42]

Accident
Mr. Samuel Beigh of this place was thrown from a buggy in the south part of town on the Kilbourn road as he was coming from the Fair on Thursday evening of last week and quite severely injured. Mr. Andrew Mitour with him he was riding turned his team out of the road to pass another team going in the same direction and it being dark ran one wheel against a stump damaging the vehicle to some extent and throwing Mr. Beigh to the ground. He was taken up insensible and carried to his home. No bones were broken, and he is gradually recovering under the care of Dr. Spooner. Mr. Mitour was uninjured.^[73]
