The most probable father of Thomas Ford appears to be the John Ford mentioned in the 1610/11 will of Thomas Forde of Dorchester, Dorset, merchant, dated 20 Jan. 1610/11, proved 8 May 1611. He names, "Thomas, son of my brother, John Forde", executor. Overseers: Robert Roye & William Jolyff. John Holman, of the "Mary & John" was apprenticed to a William Joliffe, woolendraper of Dorchester, 25 Mar. 1622.[5]
Elizabeth's parents were NOT Thomas Chard and Elizabeth Bunckom, as some have claimed. The original Hemyock records show Thomas Chard's birthdate as 27 Feb 1667 in Hemyock, and the same record shows Elizabeth Bunckom married to Thomas Chard 21 Apr 1690 in Hemyock. This is 100 years too late, and there are no records for Hemyock earlier than 1635.[12]This individual has alternate parents in the database:
