Jacobus, in Families of Old Fairfield, writes "The relationship of James to Henry and Richard Wakelee is not exactly determined, but it is a reasonable guess that they were his sons", and in the Ackley history gives a longer discussion.^{[1, 11]}

He married on 4 Sept. 1649, (IP-3) SARAH BURT^[2], daughter of (IP-2) Henry and (AAQ-4) Ulalia (MARCHE) BURT, who was born about 1620 in England^[9], and died after 1711^[9]. ^[2]

She married in Stratfield, on 29 Jan. 1712/3, (ARW-32) TIMOTHY WHEELER^[5], son of (ARW-29) Timothy and (AOX-18) Rebecca (TURNEY) WHEELER, who was born on 24 April 1691^[5], and died on 5 March 1752 in Stratfield^[5]. ^[4]
