Frederic C. Torrey later argued that the father of Philip (md. Alice Richards) was William2 (William1), and not William3 (Philip2, William1). As discussed there, both are perhaps equally likely. However, we currently show the line as it earlier appeared in NEHGR 45:301.[16]

He married in Pitminster, on 27 Nov. 1604, (AIF-9) ALICE RICHARDS[15, 3], daughter of (AIF-3) James and (FJ-3) Alice (BLAKE) RICHARDS, who was christened on 21 Jan. 1581 in Pitminster[3], died before 16 Oct. 1634 in Combe St. Nicholas[24], and was buried in Combe St. Nicholas[23].
