"He was eminent for his integrity, frank in his deportment, and just to all ; he possessed the means of relieving the oppressed, and numerous were the favors they received at his hands. He died after an illness of five days, and left a large circle of friends to mourn their loss." [Montague Family, p384]
"The name Chenery also seems to have been spelled 'Genery'.
Lambert Chenery of Dedham, 1636. He may have been first at Watertown.
Was freeman, 1645; d. 1674.
He had two sons, Isaac of Dedham, who m. Elizabeth, dau. of Robert Gamlyn.
His second son, John Chenery of Watertown, and Haverhill, 1646, m. Sarah, widow
of Thomas Boylston of Watertown, and had John Chenery, who was in Capt. Beers's
Company in King Phillip's War, and died of wounds, Sept. 4, 1675, at Squakeage."
